沙朗社区位于西区街道中北部，邻近105国道与彩虹大道。北面紧挨隆平与隆昌社区，南面连着彩虹社区，东侧是广丰社区，西侧与沙溪镇接壤。社区的前身沙朗村原称隆熙村，村名来自民国时期大天二在此设立的隆熙卡[1][2][4]。

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网的沿革页记，1953年村名改为沙蓢村，1957年改为沙蓢乡下辖的行政村，1961年并入中山农场，1970年随沙蓢公社恢复为大队[4]。1998年起称沙朗村委会，到2005年9月才改为社区居委会[4]。

博雅地名网的概况页则说，沙朗解放前又称朗窖、沙腰，1949年10月解放后改称沙朗。这一说法与沿革页的改名年代不同，本文并存[3]。

人口与经济[edit]

百度百科记辖区总面积3.87平方千米，户籍人口4883人，下设9个居民小组，另有10个农村集体经济组织[1]。博雅地名网概况页记，全社区有994户居民，常住人口为3890人，外来人口4500人；80年代前耕种面积4500亩，如今只剩1028亩[3]。

90年代初起，一些村民转向水产养殖，沙朗的罗氏虾由此出名[3]。百度百科称，社区内有果蔬批发市场和沙朗小学，并有广东颐丰食品、中顺洁柔纸业等企业[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2023年4月，沙朗社区在广东省2022年乡村治理示范村创建单位名单中列名；2022年11月，被认定为「2022年度第二批中山市绿色社区」[2]。2020年12月，社区在广东省民主法治创建名单中有名[2]。
