建村与变迁[edit]
据百度百科，明嘉靖元年（1522年）杨氏在此立村，1953年定名为下江城。1979年前，村子以种植农作物为主。[4]
工业的起步[edit]
博雅地名网记，1986年10月，原籍本村的香港居民赵振华回到高埗注册，在村内开办奇峰手袋厂，同年11月投入来料加工生产手袋。百度百科则作1985年由港商赵振华创办村内首家企业，两说年份不同，此处并存。[3][4]
产业与集体经济[edit]
政府网站称，村内有310多户个体工商户，另有257家工业企业，行业涵盖服装、鞋材、五金、塑胶、电子、家具、灯具等。代表产业园为「东莞茶酒文旅博览园」，是「国家3A级旅游景区」。[1]
