四乡村位于中堂镇的最西端，三面环水，在中堂墟西南约6千米处，与麻涌镇东太村、新基村隔河相望。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

四乡村由泗涌、东涌、西涌、西华四条自然村组成，中华人民共和国成立后才定村名为「四乡」。泗涌的开村始祖郭德尚原居南沙（今高埗镇草墩村）。博雅地名网称他在「清朝乾隆18年（1735年）」提议迁移；但乾隆十八年应为1753年，1735年属雍正十三年，此处年份与年号不符。[1]

建制上，它1950年属新民乡，1958年归麻涌公社的四乡大队，1983年为四乡乡，1987年为四乡管理区，至1999年，它才变成四乡村委会。[1]

人口[edit]

2006年，全村总面积2.3平方千米，辖4个村民小组，外来人口680人，户籍人口3138人。[1]

革命旧址[edit]

东莞水乡北区武工队队部遗址位于泗涌，是武工队队长郭奖贤的故居，建筑为三间三进合院式布局。[2]
