马沥村位于莞城西北部，中堂墟西南约4.5千米，北临倒运海水道，南面隔河与望牛墩镇杜屋村相望。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

马沥村立于清朝康熙年间（约1662年），村民分属14个姓，以梁、徐两姓较多。[1]

博雅地名网两处写法不同：概况页说村名原作「漕溪」，因村形似一匹卧在水中的骏马而改名马沥；历史沿革页则写作「曹溪」。[1]

建制上，它1953年属新民乡，1958年归麻涌公社马沥大队，1983年为马沥乡，1987年变为马沥管理区，1999年才转为马沥村委会。[1]

经济与人口[edit]

历史上马沥村以农业为主，主要作物有水稻、香蕉和甘蔗。1993年，村里兴建了五座红砖轮窑，到2002年尚存三座。[1]

2002年的数字显示，全村总面积1.89平方千米，外来人口1000多人，户籍人口1906人。[1]
