袁家涌村位于中堂镇中部，北临东江，与增城大墩隔江斜相对望，村中袁姓人口占多数。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

袁家涌立村时初称沙亭乡。村中袁氏的来历，见于《袁家涌袁氏大司马族谱》的记载。[1]

行政上，新中国成立初年村属第四区；此后相继入三联乡，再入黄涌大乡（1956年至1958年），1958年并入中堂公社、称袁家涌大队；1987年为管理区，1999年方成为村委会。[1]

地理与人口[edit]

村辖南汴、西隅、北汴、西亭、一甲五个坊，另有新村、新湾、大墩屯三个自然村。2002年的数字显示，全村面积逾3平方千米，共8个村民小组，外来人口2000多人，户籍人口5400多人，袁姓即占4500多人。[1]

古迹[edit]

村北面临东江，江岸线长两千米多。博雅地名网列出村中的西亭坊炮楼、介炀里、象色家塾，以及袁氏宗祠与天后古庙，另有河涌上的福庆桥。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，袁家涌村三次上榜阿里研究院及南京大学空间规划研究中心发布的淘宝村名单。[1]
