湛翠村位于中堂镇东部，北至「小北海」，东邻三涌村，南邻凤冲村，村民以袁姓为多。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
南宋高宗初年（1127年），曹、王、刘三姓族人为避战乱，先后从南雄珠玑巷南迁到此地，取地名为湛溪。博雅地名网称村内曾有一条大河，水色清澈。[1]
1953年，此地隶属三湛乡；1958年组建湛翠大队；1987年改为管理区；1999年才成为村委会。[1]
人口[edit]
2002年底的统计显示，全村有8个村民小组。外来人口983人，户籍人口2096人，其中男1050人、女1046人。袁姓约占总人口的59%，张、刘、李、曹四姓各约占一成，另有黎、陈两姓共30多人。[1]
