东泊社区位于中堂镇北部，107国道横穿社区，原名泊洋，明初已立村，社区下辖8个居民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东泊村由东滘湾与泊洋两条自然村组成，立村时间大致在明朝洪武年间，约1370年前后。东滘湾一支是刘氏族人在1370年前后，为避饥荒从增城石厦迁来开基的。社区原名泊洋，后才改为现名。[1]

建制上，此地先后称东泊乡（1953年）、东泊大队（1958年）、东泊管理区（1987年），至2005年方命名为东泊社区居委会。[1]

人口与荣誉[edit]

博雅地名网称，社区有常住人口约3700人，外来人口约9600人，未注明年份。北潢公路、南潢公路与107国道在境内交汇，交通较为便利。[1]

2020年12月，东泊社区上榜广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
