红锋社区坐落在中堂墟的西南一隅，紧靠中堂水道的南侧，前身是水上渔民聚居后组成的渔业大队，1999年才改用现名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网的概况页说，此处在1958年设立了东莞县莞城渔业公社下属的中堂渔业三大队，历史沿革页则写作1959年，两说不一。1972年三个渔业公社并为新湾公社，三大队随之改称红锋渔业大队；1980年又改为红锋管理区。[1]
1998年10月新湾镇撤销，此地转由中堂镇管辖。1999年它成为红锋居委会，2005年才正式改制为红锋社区居委会，村民的户口性质也由农业转为居民。[1]
