斗朗社区位于中堂镇北部，北临东江，西隔东江支流与槎滘村相望，是抗日烈士霍锡熊的家乡。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

斗朗立村于元成宗元贞年间（约1295年），霍姓村祖从山西太原迁来定居。村址靠近东江，江边多为冲积滩涂，故最初称「斗蓢」（「蓢」指沼泽或滩涂，多用于地名），清朝中后期才改为斗朗。[1]

另有一支黎姓村民，于1489年为经商由潢涌迁来。村名之外，行政归属也有变动：此地在1953年曾归东斗乡，1958年设斗朗大队，其后一度称斗朗管理区，2000年成为斗朗村委会，2005年又改为斗朗社区居委会。[1]

人口与烈士墓[edit]

耕地有750亩，外来人口约1900人，户籍人口逾2400人，村域面积为2.56平方千米（2006年数字）。[1]

霍锡熊1915年生于斗朗村，1938年8月入党，1947年在惠阳富美村突围中牺牲。1987年，中堂镇人民政府把他的遗骸迁葬到社区渡头，即霍锡熊烈士墓，墓地约27平方米。[2][3]
