五涌村是望牛墩镇南部的一个行政村，东侧以河为界，对岸是道滘镇的大鱼沙村；西邻洲涡村，北靠赤滘村。村内由五涌、漕滘、三涌、新三涌四个自然村组成，离广深高速公路的一个出口很近。[1][2][3]

村名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网所载的一则传说，村名与河涌的数目有关。大约二百年前，此处是一片属于莞城大户的水田，一位管家在寒天里前往收取田租，途中向渔民问路时得到的回答是从第一涌往南数到第五涌即为五涌。[3]

人口与土地[edit]

据镇政府网站所载2020年的村情资料，全村有农户365户，户籍人口1523人，另有新莞人约2000人。[1][2] 博雅地名网村概况所载人口为1513人，两者相差不大，此处取政府的数字。[3]

村辖区面积约1.5平方千米，离广深高速公路出口不远。近几年，五涌被镇里划入镇中心区的规划，同时并入银河工业园的规划范围。[3]

据2020年的村情资料，村内共有38家企业，规模以上的有4家，其中包括东莞市邦宇工艺品有限公司。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1957年此地并入望牛墩大乡的范围，1958年则划归中堂公社。1961年五涌一带分设两个大队，1963年两队又合为五涌大队。[2]

1983年设五涌乡，1987年改称管理区，1999年成为五涌村委会，一直沿用至今。[2]
