历史沿革[edit]
解放初此地隶属望联乡，之后在赤联乡与十五区之间变动，1957年归望牛墩大乡，1958年由中堂公社管辖。[2]
1961年此地自立为赤滘大队，隶属望牛墩公社；1963年横石宁大队撤销，其地并入，仍称赤滘大队。1983年改设赤联乡，1987年为赤滘管理区，1999年成为村委会。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
据镇政府网站村情资料，村内户籍人口为3001人，另有约4300名新莞人。村中耕地仅剩200余亩。[1]
村内的经济发展以民营企业为主，同时引进外资。2004年村里建成约3.3万平方米的厂房与宿舍对外出租，2007年又建成约4万平方米的厂房与宿舍，两项每年为村集体增收800多万元。[2][3]
荣誉[edit]
1993年，赤滘村成为首批东莞市「文明村」。[1]
2024年1月，本村获认定为2023年度省级民主法治示范村（社区）；2023年4月，本村在2022年广东省乡村治理示范村的名单之中。[2]
