麻涌社区隶属广东省东莞市麻涌镇，地处镇区旧中心一带，与东莞市区相距约18公里。居民委员会于1963年5月组建，2005年才改制为社区居委会。[1][2]

百度百科载，截至2023年12月，社区有户籍5874户17167人；博雅地名网所载的户数与人数为3151户6901人，未注统计年份，两者口径不同。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

社区最早是1963年组建的麻涌居民委员会。此后它做过工副业大队，又改为综合厂；1985年这里曾挂乡级镇人民政府的牌子，1987年转为居民管理区，直到1999年才重新以居委会的身份运作。[2][4]

2004年9月，镇启动「村改居」工程，原麻涌居委会直接过渡为社区居委会，2005年5月举行挂牌仪式，社区居委会正式成立。[3]

社区概况[edit]

社区党员共122名，分属3个党支部，由社区党委统一领导。社区内部的社会保障、民政、残疾人服务等科室合计6个，可办理的政务服务事项为97项。[1]

居民采取分组包干的方式管理，户籍资料录入人口管理系统；劳动服务站承担就业推荐与技能培训。社区建有500平方米的新时代文明实践站，内设图书阅览室与电子阅览室。[1][3]
