九门寨社区位于虎门镇西南部，背靠山岗，面对太平河口，村中有清光绪年间建成的定洋台旧址。村名取自九宰、三门口、旧寨各一字，并非寨城有九门。[2][3]
外来人口约8500人，户籍人口1760人（2024年）。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村落在民国时期已经出现。1949年时隶属东莞县第六区的南北面乡；1954年改属第十一区（沙田区）；1957年撤区并乡后归虎门大乡。1958年，它成为九门寨生产大队，归虎门人民公社统辖。[2]
1983年改设九门寨乡，归太平镇辖。此后经历多次行政调整，2005年改为社区。[2]
寨城与炮台[edit]
清初，寨城从南面迁到这里，人们称它为山后寨城。城中设有九宰、鹅儿两座炮台，扼守通往莞邑的水路，来自新安、番禺、顺德、中山的船只都要经过这里。康熙十九年（1680年），寨城曾两度遭海上来犯，守将相继失守，寨城被毁。[3]
定洋台旧址也叫鹅夷炮台，清光绪七年（1881年）春建成，正对沙角炮台，把守三门口一带进入太平河的水路。[2][4]
村名并不指寨城有九道门，它是从九宰、三门口、旧寨三个地名里各取一字拼成的。[3]
