南栅社区位于虎门镇中部，沙太公路边，是王姓聚居的名乡望族。村落原名涌源，因盐场设栅而改称南栅。村中出过南宋开宗的进士，也是抗日名将蒋光鼐的故乡。[3][2]
常住人口约5.5万人，户籍6300人（2024年）。[1]
村名与始祖[edit]
南栅原名涌源，始祖王庆丁于唐末五代时由韶州曲江迁入，选址在象山脚下结庐定居。明代莞邑名士陈琏为《涌源王氏族谱》作序，称此处为涌源坊。宋时，此地附近设有大宁盐场的盐栅，村名因此改称海南栅，今简称南栅。[3]
人物与科举[edit]
王庆丁的六世孙王知在于南宋淳熙年间中「八行科」，是虎门开宗的进士，后世子孙以「八行坊」冠名，派支众多。明清时期，村中科举出仕者众多。[3]
民国时期，南栅从军者不少，新基村是抗日名将蒋光鼐的故里。百度百科称其故居位于虎门镇三蒋新基二巷，原名荔荫园，清道咸年间由蒋理祥创建，2019年公布为第八批全国重点文物保护单位。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
建国前后，南栅归东莞县第六区，称南栅乡。1958年改为南栅生产大队。1987年转为管理区，归虎门镇。1999年设为村委会，2005年成为社区居委会。[2]
