龙眼社区位于虎门镇中部，南面紧邻广深公路，北靠赤岗村。村名来自村北沙坝与坝头小丘的形状。1978年，村里引进的龙眼发具厂被东莞市政府网称为全国农村第一家外资企业。[1][3][4]
外来常住人口约5.3万人，户籍居民为3324人（2024年）。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年前后，龙眼归东莞县第六区的赤龙乡所辖。人民公社化后，它成为龙眼大队，划归虎门人民公社。1983年改为龙眼乡，隶属虎门区公所。[1]
1987年，龙眼乡改为龙眼管理区，归虎门镇。1999年管理区撤销，成立龙眼村委会，由虎门镇政府管理。2005年，村委会定名为龙眼社区居委会。[1]
地名与村落[edit]
张氏是村中的主要姓氏，据称先祖为唐代文魁张九龄之弟张九臬的后裔，元代时从莞城博厦迁居此地。入居时，村北的大沙坝向南伸出，形如矫龙，坝头两旁有小丘对列，状如「龙眼」，村名由此而来。[3]
村地低洼，每逢春秋两季山洪汇入大沙河，南部潮水涨时河道淤塞，常成水涝。新中国成立后，村里整治大沙河，截弯取直，水潦地变为高产稳产田。[3]
经济[edit]
1978年12月，村里引进了龙眼发具厂，东莞市政府网称其为全国农村第一家外资企业。1979年，村里率先引进工业项目，村前修建宽阔的入村大道。[4][3]
