历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，此地在清康熙二十六年（即1687年）已成村落。新中国成立后的1949年，它归东莞县第六区的虎洲乡管辖。人民公社时期，这里是虎门人民公社下的一个生产大队，名为虎门寨大队。[2]
到1983年，大队撤销，改设乡一级的建制。此后1987年设管理区，1999年改为居民居委会，2005年村改居，正式称虎门寨社区居委会。[2]
寨城[edit]
虎门寨原是驻军的军事寨城，名称初为虎头门寨，山名石旗岭在立寨后改称大人山。康熙二十八年，副将晋淑玉修铺麻石路，连通寨城与卢屋一带；康熙五十六年，寨城重新夯土扩建，设东、西、南三门，各建青砖城楼。[3]
嘉庆年间，沿海防务升格，朝廷设虎门水师提督，统辖全省三十六营水师，寨城成为粤海道防的重镇。[3]
1920年，朱执信策动虎门炮台守军起义，随后的火拼中军营被烧毁，要塞司令部迁往沙角炮台。1937年，日机轰炸寨城，衙署、关帝庙等建筑被毁。[3]
