锦厦社区位于长安镇中心，北靠莲花山，东面连接霄边与咸西，南侧与深圳的碧头社区接壤，面积约8.83平方千米。[1]

社区名称「锦厦」始于清乾隆年间，据博雅地名网，当时一位举人衣锦还乡后改村名为锦厦。社区所在地的李姓居民可追溯到南宋时期的迁入。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，南宋建炎年间（1128年），始祖李卓自福建南雄珠玑巷迁到靖康白石山一带的獭步村，即今涌头。[2]

博雅地名网记为「清乾隆丁卯年（1760年）」，但乾隆丁卯年是1747年，两个纪年不一致；据其所载，当时一位李姓举人回乡，村名随之改为锦厦。[2]

据东莞市人民政府门户网站，截至2025年12月底，社区居组两级总资产达到43亿元，居组两级总收入达到6.4亿元，集体物业面积187.23万平方米。[1]

博雅地名网所载辖区面积为9平方千米，社区划分为7个居民小组，户籍人口四千余人，外来人口约8万人，统计时间不同，与前者数字也不一致。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，广东省乡村振兴局将锦厦社区列为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位；同年8月，锦厦社区入选「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[2]
