咸西社区位于长安镇中心区，地处莲花山麓，辖区面积约4.01平方千米，下辖泽义、泽荣、泽仁、泽德、泽昌五个经济社。[1]

社区在2004年完成村改居，并推行集体经济股份制改革，辖区内设有三块飞地工业园，境内有莲峰赏鹭等景点。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，元朝初年，粤北始兴县的一批人迁到此处，因位于咸田以西而得名。村民多为麦姓。[2]

1949年前此地属长边乡，1949年后先后隶属霄边乡、锦厦乡。1958年公社化时属锦厦大队，1960年分出，设咸西大队。1988年改称咸西管理区，1998年改为咸西村委会，2005年村改居，设咸西社区居委会。[2]

据东莞市人民政府门户网站，社区于上世纪80年代末完成工业化。辖区现有工业企业141家，其中规模以上企业17家，个体工商户3378家。[1]
