旧头村位于塘厦镇东南部，距镇区约3千米。它原是一个聚落，1961年塘坑水库建成后逐渐形成，如今归塘厦社区管辖[1]。

建村与沿革[edit]

最早定居的是8户移民，他们来自紫金、五华和清远清新等地。村子原名「简头」。在行政归属上，它先后隶属塘厦人民公社、塘厦区，1999年划入塘厦社区[1]。

人口与经济[edit]

截至2015年末，村中登记在册的人口为162人，另有120名外来暂住人员。原住村民日常说东莞塘厦话，也说客家话[1]。过去村里以种水稻、荔枝为主，2005年有部分土地因修建高速公路被征用。2015年，村集体总收入为134万元[1]。

习俗[edit]

村里保留着清明、重阳祭祖的习俗，中秋节则要祭神，供品用月饼和柚子[1]。
