寮步镇是广东省东莞市下辖的镇，位于东莞市中部。据镇政府介绍，它的位置接近全市的几何中心，靠近市区，与松山湖相邻。[1]

全镇面积72.54平方千米，辖30个行政村（社区）。2025年末，常住人口52.99万，户籍人口约十六万七千。[1][3] 因古时在寒溪河边搭茅寮而居、逐步形成商埠，此地得名「寮步」；明清时期，它以莞香交易闻名，被称作「香市」。[1][2][8]

历史沿革[edit]

寮步一带始建于唐代贞观年间，人们在寒溪河岸边搭茅寮居住，以草织、竹器和打铁为业，后来逐渐形成商埠，「寮步」之名即由茅寮与水边停船之埠而来。明代，莞香在此集散，寮步又称「香市」。清初诗人屈大均在《广东新语》中把寮步的香市列为东粤四大市之一。[2]

清代寮步隶属文顺乡，此后又经历了区划调整、战乱与重建。1938年东莞县失守，寮步随之变成半沦陷之地；1943年当地建立起红色政权，划为新三区。抗战胜利后，行政归属数易。1955年改设寮步区，1957年分成寮步、金桔、温塘三个大乡，1958年改行人民公社体制。1983年恢复区乡建制，1987年4月撤区设镇。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇域四周高、中间低，形如盆地，地貌以丘陵、台地与残丘为主，丘陵之间有平地，海拔多在5至90米之间。寒溪河过境长约5.5千米，镇域位于其下游的西南岸，境内水系还包括寮步河、黄沙河等。气候属南亚热带季风气候，雨水多集中在5至9月。[4]

经济[edit]

电子信息、装备制造和汽车销售服务是镇里的三类支柱产业，新型储能、新材料、人工智能与人力资源服务等新兴产业也在布局。镇内市场主体约10.4万户，其中高新技术企业504家，规模以上工业企业六百多家，专精特新「小巨人」企业13家。[1]

2025年，全镇地区生产总值465.3亿元，比上年增长7%。全年工业增加值（规上口径）198.1亿元，消费品零售总额360.4亿元，进出口总额530.6亿元。当年寮步在全国综合实力千强镇中排第35位。[1]

文化与名胜[edit]

香市公园内有中国沉香文化博物馆，博雅地名网称它是国内第一座以香文化为主题的博物馆，占地约8199平方米。[7] 公园旁的香慧寺背靠神仙岭，据寺院介绍，它是全国只有这一座以莞香供佛的寺院。[5]

牙香街昔日是寮步镇十三行中专门售卖莞香的街道，如今以沉香为主题，开设有六十多家特色店铺，获「广东省岭南特色街区铜奖」。[6] 镇内另有佛灵湖郊野公园和东莞香市动物园等旅游地。[1][7]

2014年12月，寮步香市经国务院核准，列入第四批的国家级非遗项目名单。[8]

纪念地与人物[edit]

博雅地名网记载，横坑村西面的豆腐岭附近有横坑抗日义士纪念碑，纪念为抗击侵华日军而牺牲的良横乡人。[7]

博雅地名网列出寮步镇名人钟达明（1917至1989年），他是横坑村人。1935年他在广州中山大学求学时，正值北平学生发起一二九运动，他随即参与了声援活动。[7]
