桥梓村位于常平镇中心区西北约2千米，属珠江三角洲的埔田地区。村中保存有明清时期的古民居、书室与家祠，是镇内历史遗存较完整的古村落。[1]
古村落[edit]
村落的巷道布局尚存，保留数十间古民居以及书室、家祠多间，旧民居内还有不少旧时的生产工具。[1]
周氏祠堂[edit]
周氏祠堂建于明末清初，距今370余年，为桥梓、苏坑与常平下圩三村周姓共同奉祀的宗祠。清代村中先后有进士、举人与武举出现，《东莞县志》对此有记载。1993年，三村周氏后裔集资按原貌重修。[1]
1925年，屋厦农民协会在该祠成立，它当时是东莞影响较大的农会会址；屋厦一名所指的范围包括桥梓、下圩、岗梓、苏坑与塘角。1927年大革命失败后，中共东莞县委秘密迁到屋厦，祠堂成为县委的临时办公地点。[1][2]
1999年，中央电视台一档节目到村中拍摄江南周姓专题，周氏祠堂由此成为重要景点。[1]
浣薇书屋[edit]
浣薇书屋为清代建筑，占地约158平方米，砖木结构二层，前檐为卷棚屋顶，木雕较为精致。屋主周朝桢在咸丰年间的广府经古会考试中居于首位，此后三次赴京应试均未录取，于是返乡办学，为民国后兴办新式学校奠定了基础。[1]
民国后，书屋曾改作药店，人民公社时期用作食堂。因多次改建，屋内已非原貌，门前的红石匾额仍然保存。[1]
