常平社区位于常平镇中心，是镇内两个社区之一。社区面积约0.72平方千米，周边与木棆、板石、朗贝、还珠沥、下墟、金美诸村相接。[1]

镇政府网站所载，社区的户籍居民为24288人、8786户；另有外来人口2万人左右，个体工商户约3000家。区内有3个购物商场、14个商住小区，镇政府的部门与中小学多设在周边，社区是全镇政治、经济与文化活动的中心。[1]
社区服务[edit]
社区综合服务中心于2011年12月投入运营，由政府购买服务，聘请专业社工提供服务。2016年，中心设立镇内首个衣物捐取站，名为「暖墙」；页面所列捐赠与领取数分别为9359件与8078件。[1]
