湖美村在东莞市东部，离企石镇中心约7公里，面积约1平方千米，常住人口795人，外来流动人口约1500人。[1]

村庄南面临江南大道，北面是东江大道，环镇路绕村一周，交通便利。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1951年湖美随共和乡设立；1955年组织低级社，1956年改为高级社。1958年成立人民公社，湖美属五八部下的一个连，营部设在铁岗。[1]

1961年改为生产队，1985年设湖美乡人民政府，1988年改为管理区，1999年7月改为湖美村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

到2006年，全村已有15家企业落户，多为外资、来料加工与个体私营性质，行业涉及家具、五金、工艺礼品与塑胶。村里还编制了湖美村工业区的控制性详细规划。[1]
