位于石龙镇西北部的中山西社区，是镇下辖的行政社区。社区界线大致为：东面到太平路，西面到木材厂新门口一带，南边以绿化路为界，北侧挨着东江。[1]

社区下辖九个居民小组，历史遗迹有竹器街、何六起义遗址新庙和红楼教堂等。[1][2]

沿革[edit]

百度百科称，社区成立于20世纪60年代初。博雅地名网的记述是：1954年起为西区办事处，“文革”中一度拆分为朝阳、前进两个居委会；1979年恢复原名，1989年改称中山西居民管理区，1999年成为西区街道工作办公室，2004年6月设立中山西社区居民委员会。[1][2]

2014年年底统计，社区住户5808户、居民19692人。[1] 社区内有547家经营铺位、3间大型商场、20多家工厂企业和8间娱乐场所。[2]

社区的综合养老服务中心入选东莞首批示范点，镇政府网站有此记载。[3]

历史与文化[edit]

竹器街据博雅地名网考证已有四百多年历史，街上经营竹器的店铺有二十多家。[4]

百度百科称，社区内有何六起义遗址新庙（现为石龙镇第七小学）、建于19世纪的基督教红楼教堂，以及地藏王寺等。[1][2]

2024年1月，社区红色文化馆开馆。[1]
