镇政府网站记载，村名的来历是：明清之际，周边九个自然村分作四份凑钱，建成了榴洲三圣庙，「四甲」之称便源于此。[1]

环城路石碣段的互通立交出入口位于村内，可快速接入莞深高速、广惠高速和广园快速等干线。[1] 博雅地名网亦称，村北离广州约62公里，南距深圳78公里。[2]

村内以电子、五金、塑胶及新能源企业为主，规模以上企业45家，专精特新企业8家。[1]
