东正社区属东莞市莞城街道，位于莞城北部偏东一带。它的东侧延伸至鸦叫尾，南侧靠近东莞市人民公园，西侧挨着西正路，北侧临近运河。[1][2]
社区居民小组共七个，分别为东正与宣化、安靖与新河、鸿裕、翠景和叫尾。辖区里有市属机关与学校，也有市级医院、图书馆和少年宫，人民公园与东门广场同样在此。[1][2]

三处资料的数字并不一致。街道网站称社区面积约1.877平方千米，户籍人口2.83万，常住人口1.8万；博雅地名网称面积约2.5平方千米，户籍人口2.1万；百度百科给出的户籍人口为2.86万。此处采用街道网站的数字。[1][2][3]
荣誉[edit]
社区获得首批全国文化先进社区的称号，并被命名为「全国社会工作服务标准化建设示范社区」。省级荣誉有六好平安和谐社区与广东省绿色社区。[1]
教育与共建[edit]
辖区内有两所高校，一所市直属完全中学，市直属中职两所，公办小学与幼儿园各一所。社区同东莞市理工学院、东莞中学等十五家单位结成共驻共建关系。[1][2]
名胜古迹[edit]
中共东莞特别支部机关旧址在东莞中学北区，与1923年社会主义青年团组织在东莞的建立有关。[2]
东莞人民公园始建于1913年，最初只有盂山、砵山，因此得名盂山公园，现占地约23公顷。[2]
邓尔雅故居在寺前街，是两座形制一样的四开间房屋，麻石勒脚，青砖墙体，硬山顶。明伦堂财产信条碑亭建成于1937年，为砖石结构，立有八根罗马柱。[2]
