大汾社区位于东莞市万江街道西侧，距莞城约6.1千米，东与上甲相邻，南隔河与新村相连，北与小享及望牛墩镇白市、扶涌隔河相望。村名原为汾溪，后前加「大」字而成现名。[1]
地名由来与历史[edit]
博雅地名网称，村子于1161年建村，最初叫汾溪。因周边有许多带「汾」字的小地名，村民为作区别，并显示村落的规模，在前面添了「大」字，于是成为大汾。清代此地归延福乡。[1]
新中国成立初期此地设大汾乡，1957年后并入新村大乡，村中还办起了农业合作社。1961年改称大汾大队，1983年由万江区公所下的乡人民政府接管，1987年后成为管理区，1999年设村委会，2005年转为社区居委会。[1]
人口[edit]
博雅地名网给出两组旧数字：1960年为569户，户籍2359人（男1038、女1321）；1970年为751户，户籍2910人。[1]
名胜与荣誉[edit]
何氏大宗祠位于社区向南坊，年代为明至清，2012年11月公布为第九批东莞市文物保护单位。[2]
2019年9月，社区获评2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位；2026年1月，社区被评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
