水蛇涌社区位于东莞市万江街道中部，东边是大莲塘，南边与共联社区相接，西边挨着新村社区，北边临上甲社区。社区早先叫金龙涌，后因一则传说改成现名。[1]
地名由来[edit]
1660年，邻村大汾篁村前的韩、叶、袁三姓先后迁来立村，原名金龙涌。后来村中只剩袁姓四户。据传有白发老人路过，说金龙一代只生一子，水蛇一胎却能生数十条，改名水蛇涌才能保佑村中人丁兴旺，村名就此改过来。[1]
行政沿革[edit]
村子原归共联乡管辖，之后分出另立大队。此后经过设乡、改区、改村，2003年定名为社区，2005年改为社区居委会。[1]
农业与人物[edit]
村子以种水稻为主，黄麻也颇有名气。博雅地名网记载，1950年代，村民袁林达因种植黄麻获得高产，名声传到全国，还曾赴越南指导种植。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，社区获评2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[1]
