大莲塘社区位于东莞市万江街道西部，靠近西四环路，距华南摩尔商业城和市汽车总站都只有约一公里。社区名字与当地的莲子产业有关。[1]
地名由来[edit]
博雅地名网称，村子处在东江南支下游的莲子海流域，四周河涌交错、水塘遍布，所产莲子出名，因此得名大莲塘。[1]
行政沿革[edit]
1960年以前，村子属于共联乡，之后分出另立大队。1983年设大莲塘管理区，1999年改为村委会，2005年定名为社区居委会。[1]
