历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网记载，村子的名字经过数次变动：先是叫疍家租，到清代分别改作万家洲、万家租，最后因河道交错，定为万江租。1961年6月，非农业户籍的居民从万江大队中分离出来，组成圩居委会。1989年改为居民管理区，1999年设居民委员会，2005年村改居后定名社区。[1]
街道办事处网站另作说明，称2003年3月之后才改用社区名称，并说该地历来被称为「烟花之乡」。[2]
产业与人物[edit]
社区早年有多家爆竹烟花作坊，最早的一家于1912年创办，1986年前后因行业风险被淘汰。当地的传统食品万江腐竹也出自这里，1959年，永泰、水角两处的腐竹合作社合并，改为公社腐竹厂。[2]
据街道办事处网站，1822年至1895年间，永安坊的尹氏家族先后出了3名进士和9名举人。水角坊的陈兰芳以生产爆竹烟花闻名，人称「爆竹大王」。[2]
