篁村社区是南城街道下辖的社区，地名与竹有关，古称邵村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
因溪流两岸竹类繁茂，村名先称篁溪，后改称篁村。明崇祯十二年（1639年）属东莞县恩德乡第十都；清乾隆十九年（1754年）隶属缺口司，境内分为边甲、亨甲、元甲、湴甲、恬甲五坊。[1]
至1947年，篁村乡已划分为12个保，人口共计5670人，所辖地域后来分属篁村、胜和、元美、亨美和三元里五个社区。1951年2月，篁村乡拆分为篁村、胜和两个乡；1966年3月重设篁村人民公社。1977年3月，篁村生产大队一分为四：篁村、元美、亨美、三元里各成一个生产大队。[1]
