梨川社区位于东江南支流下游南岸，靠近莞城北郊，总土地面积约1.0平方千米。梨川自明初建村，至今600多年，被称为进士之乡。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，梨川在宋末立村。1949年起它先归莞城镇风山乡，次年改属莞城镇环城乡，1953年归东莞县第一区，1957年隶属罗沙大乡，1958年改归附城公社的堑头大队。1966年自堑头分出，另设梨川大队；1984年为梨川乡，1987年为梨川管理区，1999年成为村委会，2005年改为社区居委会。[1]

2002年社区居委会成立，下设3个居民小组，辖兰基头、市地、大泉、水围、大街与周屋围，共6个自然村。截至2016年，常住户有426户，户籍人口为1694多人，另有外来人口超过三千五百。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，社区被列为广东省民主法治示范村（社区）的创建单位，所属年度为2018年。此前还获广东省卫生村与东莞市文化建设达标社区等称号。[1][2]
