新八村位于连州市三水瑶族乡之内，是该乡下辖的行政村。村子处在粤北林区的西北角，西北边界与湖南蓝山相接，村委会驻茶坪村。全村辖八个村民小组、四个自然村，总面积约46.7平方千米，为瑶族聚居地。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地解放前称黄洞山，境内有八个堡，新中国成立后改称新八，村名由此而来。[2]

这里属于革命老区，今存小东口战斗遗址和一座红色文化展览馆。2017年，村庄被列为广东省首批「红色村」。[1]

地理环境[edit]

省级生态公益林面积为3.76万亩，木材以杉木、竹子为主，另产杜仲等药材。[1]

人口民族[edit]

百度百科所载户籍人口为653人；博雅地名网则记为141户688人。两个数字不一致，此处各自注明来源。[1][2]

经济[edit]

2016年起，村里发展农家乐和竹海观光旅游，此后又修成竹索桥和游客中心等设施，以瑶族文化、竹海资源和农业相结合，形成创意农业旅游区。[1]

今年，村里增设6处特色文化标识，乡村道路有1.5公里完成了黑化，并持续打造“重走红军路”研学线路。截至报道时，当年已接待研学团队和休闲游客超过1200人次。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2017年10月，经广东省爱国卫生运动委员会认定，村庄成为「第一批广东省卫生村」。2020年8月，村庄入选「首批广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」，产业为茶叶；同年12月，又入选「第一批广东省少数民族特色村寨」。[2]

2021年，村庄获评「广东省森林乡村」，并获认定为「第二批全国乡村治理示范村」，此外还被选为「第二批广东省文化和旅游特色村」。[1][2]

2024年3月，村庄被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[2]
