1999年定名为水源村村民委员会，此前经历了互助组至管理区的各个阶段。[2]

2019年9月，水源村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。2026年1月，水源村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
