设立村委会时取美好寓意，希望大力协助村民发家致富，村名由此而来。[1]

1999年起称协民村村民委员会。[1]

农业普查试点[edit]

2026年上半年，连州市第四次全国农业普查的试点落户于协民湟本村。镇里派出27名工作人员参加市级培训，并投入试点，入户走访67户，填报了调查表。[2]
