社区名称取自北江两岸的两个旧地名：江西岸的黎洞与江东岸的铁溪，各取一字合成「黎溪」。[1]

社区北临北江，银英路从旁经过，街道按井字形分布，南北向与东西向的街巷大致成网格。[1]
