工村社区位于横石塘镇，由原英德硫铁矿改制而来，2005年12月成立。[1]其所在的工村片区，控制性详细规划于2026年1月获英德市人民政府批准。[2]

社区的前身是英德硫铁矿，2005年12月转制为社区，同月成立社区党总支，下设5个支部，另有一个流动支部。[1]社区下设4个居民小组。[1]

规划[edit]

工村片区的规划草案于2025年5月公示，当时的规划面积约37.23公顷；2026年1月公告的批复稿面积约63.47公顷。[3][2]规划定位为以居住为主、兼有商业、文化和休闲功能的宜居片区。[2]

镇里计划把工村的硫铁矿历史文化与龙华、龙建两村的红色资源整合起来，发展文旅。[4]
