上太村位于英德市下太镇东部，东接灯塔村，北邻沙岗村，西南两面群山环绕。全村辖7个自然村，共有1688人（博雅地名网，未注年份）。[1]

地名[edit]

地名用字「石太」为生僻字，读dài。该地位于山坑上游，旧时俗称「上低」，后取其谐音定为今名。[2]

沿革[edit]

该村的组织形态多次变化：1952年这里设上石太小乡，1958年改为大队，1983年设乡政府，1986年改称村委会，1990年为管理区。1998年10月7日重新设为村委会，此后沿用至今。[3]

自然环境与荣誉[edit]

村内山林面积约39149亩，矿产有稀土、钨、锡、铅、锌等。村中有观音山、龙潭和横水瀑布等自然景观。[1]

2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予上新围村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]

规划定位[edit]

《英德市下太镇乡村振兴规划（2022-2035年）》把上太村列为集聚提升类村庄，并以西洋菜种植基地作为特色农业基地之一。[4]
