下太镇位于广东省清远市英德市东南部，距英德市区约38公里，东邻佛冈县，西接连江口镇。镇域以丘陵为主，四周环山，中部为狭长盆地。英德市人民政府网、博雅地名网和百度百科多称其为「下太镇」，博雅地名网的历史沿革则写作「下太镇」，本条目按数据库名称立条。[4][2][3]

全镇辖下太社区，以及灯塔、上太、沙岗、新联、高洞五个村。下太社区在官方文件中称居委会。[5][1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网的历史沿革，此地建制始于明洪武二年（1369年）。清康熙四十四年（1705年）属英德县捕属竹迳都，道光十六年（1836年）设立上石太乡和下石太乡。1940年设上、下石太乡，1945年归连石太乡管辖，新中国成立后先后属英德县第一区和连江口区。[3]

1958年并入跃进人民公社，次年转隶连江口，1977年冬自连江口析出，另组下石太人民公社；1983年撤社设区公所，1986年撤区设乡。1993年10月设镇，百度百科则写作1994年正式设镇，两说相差一年。[3][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域为丘陵地带，中部一条狭长盆地上有几条溪流交汇。百度百科称林地约占73%，耕地约11400亩，水田灌溉率达九成。石英砂是主要矿产，探明储量超过1200万吨。[4][2]

关于镇域面积，博雅地名网载为187平方千米，百度百科载为174.09平方千米（2017年），2023年规划公示则为174.1平方千米，本条目采用最后一个数字。[2][4][1]

镇内有八座小水电站，装机约5500千瓦，数据见百度百科。[4]

百度百科载2017年全镇总人口11266人，博雅地名网载总人口10105人（未注年份）。规划文件称镇内居民都是客家人，百度百科亦称方言以客家话为主。[4][2][1]

经济与规划[edit]

官方规划把下太镇定位为「粤北山水旅游城镇」「清远市新型绿色建材生产基地」「英德市农业产业基地」，并以省道292和省道382形成一纵一横两条振兴发展带。[1]

农产品以砂糖桔、油茶和笋竹为代表，规划提出林下种植养殖、蔬菜和畜牧三大主导产业，并以黑皮冬瓜、百合、土茯苓等作补充。建材产业以石英砂为主。[1]

规划把村庄分为两类：下太社区属城郊融合类，新联、沙岗、高洞、灯塔、上太五村属集聚提升类。各村另有特色基地，灯塔有供港蔬菜，高洞有柑橘，新联有土茯苓，上太有西洋菜，沙岗与下太则有百合。[1]

交通与公共服务[edit]

英太公路向北通黄岗镇、大站镇和英德市区，英佛公路向南接京珠高速公路与106国道，连太公路向西通连江口镇。[2]

百度百科载镇内设中小学9所及标准化卫生院。[4]

近年建设[edit]

2025年4月29日晚，下太镇在向阳路举办「英州夜谈」座谈会，就「七个一」重点建设项目听取居民意见，内容涉及镇入口通道、圩镇客厅、河道整治、农贸市场、小公园和示范主街改造。[6]
