麻步村是英德市大湾镇下辖的行政村，位于镇东南部，离镇政府约5千米。村委会设在麻步街自然村，全村辖24个自然村。[1]

村名与一座古庙有关。相传一位道士骑马经过此地，马忽然不肯前行，道士在河边见到一朵石莲花，便在此建庙。香客渐多，此地设了圩市，之后因外来人的口音不同，「马步」慢慢写成了「麻步」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村制几经变动：1998年10月7日起改设麻步村委会，沿用至今；此前的1990年为麻步管理区，1986年改为村委会。更早的建制有1983年的麻步乡政府、1958年的麻步大队，以及1952年的麻步乡。[1]

广东省爱卫会于2021年12月把「2021年广东省卫生村」称号授予麻步村。[1]

经济[edit]

村里耕地平坦，是粮食主产区。农业结构调整以后，花生、水果和竹笋的种植较多。博雅地名网记人口4228人、耕地2679亩，未注年份。[1]

文化[edit]

镇政府2023年的工作总结把麻步四角楼列为历史古迹，与金山祖庙、文英书院等一并作为镇里打造乡村旅游线路的资源。[2]
