中步村是英德市大湾镇下辖的行政村，位于镇的东南部，离镇政府约5千米。全村辖22个自然村。[1]

村名的来历是：去往本村须先经过上步，而村委驻地位于辖区中部，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

中步村委会的名称自1998年起启用，此前为1990年设立的中步管理区、1986年的村委会、1983年的中步乡政府，再往前则是1958年的中步大队。[1]

2019年9月，中步村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。广东省爱卫会于2021年12月把「2021年广东省卫生村」称号授予该村。[1]

经济[edit]

村里田地平整连片，粮食作物是主要生产。调整农业结构之后，村里转种了不少经济作物。博雅地名网记人口5395人、耕地6500亩，未注统计年份。[1]
