保城村隶属太保镇，辖有10个自然村。村名取自该村委会所管的太保街、旧城等自然村，各取一字而成。村中的旧城曾是连山县治所在，前后共484年。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

该村的建制几经变动。1955年9月设太保乡，1958年10月改为太保大队，1983年11月复为太保乡，1986年11月设保城村委会，1989年8月改称保城管理区，1999年5月重新定为保城村委会。[1]

古迹[edit]

旧城一带现存遗迹包括古城门和古城墙。[2][3]

产业与文化[edit]

近年村里推进「百千万工程」，以古迹为依托发展乡村休闲旅游，种植西洋菜、鹰嘴桃、有机水稻和七彩花生，并开展稻鱼鸭共生养殖，村民以土地入股参与分红。村中的传统文化活动有舞火狮。[3]

荣誉[edit]

广东省爱国卫生运动委员会在2017年10月把「第一批广东省卫生村」称号颁给保城村。[1]
