五元村位于秤架瑶族乡东南部，距乡政府驻地约30公里，东面与乳源县为邻，南面与岭背镇相接。村委会下设10个村民小组，有322户、1678名村民。[1]
地名[edit]
旧称「五源」，因附近五股水流汇成一条坑沟，后谐音写作「五元」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国29年（1940年）设保，此后经乡政府、生产大队、管理区等阶段，1999年3月才定为村委会。[2]
2005年4月，县政府批复撤销竹崆村委会，并入本村。[2]
地理与产业[edit]
村域处在石灰岩地带，水能资源充足，现有小水电站5座，总装机3800千瓦。主产马铃薯和芋头，并产冬菇、山茶、木耳。[1]
据百度百科，村中有红芽芋种植基地，另设反季节蔬菜示范地；村里的经济合作社负责集体资产与农业生产服务。[3]
