因周围地势平坦，原有很多池塘，故名塘坪。博雅地名网称村内现辖44个村民小组。园区占地13平方千米，是村内的一处产业平台；村内天然硅资源也较丰富。[1]

脱贫[edit]

2019年11月，经镇村核查、县抽检复核，塘坪村达到相对贫困村退出标准，是当年七拱镇8个省级村中的5个之一。[2]
