上岳村为佛冈县龙山镇的一个行政村，位于镇西面，距镇政府约12千米，村域内有上岳、高禾、横围、榨油岭、秧坎咀5条自然村。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村旁的高山名为“岳山”。本村位于岳山上方，村名因而取作“上岳”，与山下的下岳村相对。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
此地清代归清远县潖一乡，民国时属清远县民安乡。新中国成立后设村，初称乡。1961年5月，上岳大队分出榨油岭、秧坎咀两个大队。1983年末复为乡，1987年初设村委会，1990年至1995年间为管理区，1995年起复称村委会。2005年5月，榨油岭、秧坎咀两个村委会并入上岳村委会。[1]
古建筑[edit]
古村的民居以镬耳楼为特色，墙体青砖到顶，山墙呈耳形，屋檐耳边刻有各种图案。[2]
全村分为十八个“里”。一“里”即一处居住单位，以五户为一邻、五邻为一里的方式编排。十八里明初开始建造，随人口繁衍陆续增建，清代中期形成完整布局。全村共有门楼、水井和鱼塘各十八处，分布于各里。全村共有37幢108座古民居。[2][3]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网载，村委会人口5528人，耕地3925.3亩，地势开阔平坦，是粮食产区。农业结构调整后，村内多种砂糖桔，大部分村民因此增收。[1]
荣誉与保护[edit]
博雅地名网载，2009年12月，村入选第二批「广东省历史文化名镇名村」；2010年7月，村入选第五批「中国历史文化名村」；2012年12月，村列入第一批「中国传统村落」名录；2016年1月，村入选第三批美丽宜居村庄示范。2022年8月，村列为当年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）的创建单位。该网站还载，村曾被评为「广东省十大最美乡村」之一。[1]
百度百科载，村2006年获「广东最美丽乡村示范点」称号，2008年列入广东首批古村落。[2] 佛冈县人民政府网站载，2011年起县内有三个村落被评为广东省古村落，上岳村为其一。[4]
居民来历[edit]
据潮游生活所载，村中朱氏族人自称有南宋理学家朱熹的后代，也有南宋名将朱文焕的后人。朱文焕护送南宋皇帝南逃时殉难，其子在战乱中逃至上岳，此后在此定居。[3]
