地名由来[edit]
关前圩遗址位于村内。据博雅地名网引《郝通志》所载，明万历五年（1577年）前后，有官员来清远督征税收，在此设关收税。商旅与手工业者随之聚集，渐成集市。因圩场设在税关前面，圩名便定为“关前”。[1]
百度百科另载，该村落建成于1577年，与明代官府在此设关收税有关。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
此地清代归清远县潖一乡，民国时改属清远县龙山乡。新中国成立后定名关前村，其后一度改称乡。1959年起为大队，1983年末再改为乡，1987年初设村委会，1990年至1995年间为管理区，1995年底复称村委会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网载，村委会人口3638人，耕地3102亩，地势低平，土壤肥沃，水源充足，多为粮食生产区。产业调整后，村民种植的砂糖桔与各类花卉等经济作物增多。[1]
村域内的自然村有高禾塘、潖始巷、船厂、秧坎埔、东胜里、赖家庄、麻阵围、中间寮、龙船头和河田。[1]
