地名由来[edit]
村名寓意建设新中国，故称新国。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新国的历史可追溯到1953年的塘下乡；1958年单独成立新国大队，1983年设为乡级建制，1986年改为村委会，1989年实行管理区体制，1999年重设村委会。该村原属鱼坝镇，2004年5月鱼坝镇撤销后划归禾云镇。2004年10月，新国、黄沙两个村委会合并，设立新国村委会，沿用至今。[1]
