历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历是村子所在处原为回澜西侧的一片沙地。[1]

西沙村委会的前身是1953年设立的西沙乡。1958年改为大队，1983年又称乡，1986年成为村委会，1989年改为管理区，1998年重新恢复村委会的建制，沿用至今。[1]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予西沙村「2021年广东省卫生村」称号；2023年5月，西沙村的乌二村获得「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
