车公洞村位于太平镇西北部，是镇内的革命老区，村委会距镇政府约25公里。[1]村名来自地形：一条约2千米长的山涌成直线，中部的洞田形似车壳，水流过时村庄如同转动的香车。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

车公洞最早在1950年设乡，名为车公洞乡；1958年改成大队；1983年又恢复为乡；1986年以后为村委会，1989年至1999年间为管理区。[1]2019年9月，车公洞村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]

人口与产业[edit]

村域面积18.7平方千米，耕地312亩，下辖8个村民小组，258户、1110人。主要种植水稻、水果、毛竹、黄竹、速生桉树和砂糖桔。[1]
