社区位于街道北侧，距街道办事处5.5公里左右，武广高铁清远站设在此地。[1]

据2024年街道概况，社区拥有永久基本农田约199607平方米。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

村头村在街道东北，始建于明末清初，早年以向姓居民为主。因地处北江沙洲的最北端，村子得名「村头」，之后由居民点发展为村落。[2]

村头村的行政归属几经变化：1986年起它隶属洲心镇的洲沙行政村；1990至1998年间，这一行政村的名称变为洲沙管理区；2003年洲心街道成立后，又回到洲心街道的洲沙行政村之下。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

北江船厂旧址在村子东北、五一码头边上，临江而建，修于1960年代，留存6间钢筋混凝土结构的厂房。街道概况将北江船厂旧址列为辖区的不可移动文物保护单位。[2][4]

往五一码头逆流约3千米，南峡山下有一座禅院紫竹林，唐代中期创建，1999年重新修建。[2]

著名人物[edit]

革命烈士向秀丽的祖籍在村头村，她1933年在此出生，后随家人迁往广州。[2]
